The City of Santa Clara Santa Clara Fire Department, in conjunction with Firefighters Local 1171, offers the citizens of Santa Clara an array of public service programs. The dedication and professionalism of Santa Clara's Firefighters is exemplified by the variety of service they provide both on-duty and while volunteering their off-duty time. These programs include:
 
Art & Wine Festival Hug-a-Bear Program
Bicycle Licensing Identification Program for Residents with Special Needs
Child/Infant Car Seat Loaner Program Juvenile Fire Setters

Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) School Visits

Firefighters provide and display safety information and health screening information to citizens who attend the annual Art and Wine Festival at Central Park. (Contact Fire Prevention @ 615-4970)

The Fire Department will provide a license and bicycle sticker/tag to track and return recovered stolen bicycles. Bring your bicycle to any City fire station, any day of the week, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A $2.00 fee is charged. (Contact Santa Clara Fire Department @ 615-4900)

Grandchild visiting from out of town? Car seats may be borrowed from Fire Station#1, 777 Benton Street, or from the Police Department's Front Desk at 601 El Camino Real. Loans may be made for a two week period. A $10.00 processing fee is charged. Members of the fire service function as peer counselors and task force members who provide emotional support to emergency service workers after experiencing a traumatic emotional emergency response. (Contact Santa Clara Fire Dept. @ 615-4900)

Security Bars: In partnership with Rotary Clubs of Santa Clara, Cisco Systems, Devcon Construction, and Kiwanis Clubs, the Santa Clara Fire Dept. is helping to eliminate potential deaths and injuries associated with non-complaint security bars throughout our community by replacing them for our citizens. Santa Clara Fire Department and Home Depot are involved in a unique program. As members of the fire service respond to emergency calls at Santa Clara residences, they check the smoke detectors within the homes and replace batteries to ensure their working condition.
