The Santa Clara Fire Department enforces the 2000 Uniform Fire Code with local amendments. The local amendments to the Santa Clara Municipal Fire & Environmental Code are available online.

As a CUPA (Certified Unified Program Agency), the Santa Clara Fire Department Hazardous Materials Division also enforces portions of the California Health and Safety Code and the California Code of Regulations that relate to hazardous waste and hazardous waste treatment at fixed facilities.
